Diverticulitis is developed from a preexisting condition called diverticulosis. Diverticulosis is when you have small protruding pouches in your digestive tract. Research shows that about 50% of the population in the United States older than 60 have this condition, however it remains unnoticed because it does not cause any discomfort. If one of the pouches becomes inflamed or infected, this is known as Diverticuliltis causing abdominal pain, fever, nausea or a significant change in your bowel movements.

Symptoms
Most people with Diverticulosis usually don't experience any symptoms, in fact in many cases, people who suffer from this condition find out by undergoing test for other intestinal problems. Someone suffering from Diverticulitis will however experience abdominal pain on the left side, nausea, abdominal tenerderness, fever, and diarrhea or constipation. Less common symptoms include:
bloating
Rectal Bleeding
Vomiting
Frequent urination
Pain or difficulty while urinating
Causes
Most doctors believe that a low-fiber is the primary cause for both of these conditions which is also known as Diverticular Disease. This disease was first noticed in the United States around the early 1900's; around the same time processed foods were brought to your average American. These foods were very low in fiber and had little nutritional value. Constipation causes muscle strains which increases pressure on the colon. This pressure causes vulnerable spots in the colon to bulge outward and become diverticula.

Treatment
Doctors often recommend a clear liquid or low-fiber diet. This helps the infected area to heal. However the best remedy for this condition is to prevent it in the first place.
By adding more fiber to your diet, you reducing pressure on your colon and preventing diverticula to form. Usually people who cannot remember to add the necessary amount to fiber to their diet, prefer a colon cleanse. Colon cleansing adds fiber to your diet, and softens stool to facilitate any strain you might be experiencing. Supplements that include psyllium husk are commonly recommended.

What to expect while you Detoxify
Many customers report improved, more productive bowel movements and excretion of long hard, extremely unusual fecal matter. This is normal during a detoxification process and you should not be alarmed. You are simply excreting the waste that has built up over the years. The amount of time after detoxification begins and such excretions occur is different for everyone, as everyone's body is different.
It is also normal when detoxifying to seemingly feel worse before you feel better. You may experience fatigue, headaches, intestinal and digestive stress, and mood swings during your detoxification. Do not be alarmed. These are signs that the detoxification process has taken effect. You are likely to start feeling better, then as more toxins buried deeper start to come out some additional negative effects may occur but as time goes on you should feel much healthier for longer periods of time.
While continuing to take the supplement it will assist your body in more productive elimination of toxins but as time goes on it's important to address the sources of toxins and make any reasonable adjusts to your lifestyle possible so you can attain the most optimal, healthy you!
